Titanium is one of the most durable metals on earth. It’s remarkably strong for its density, which has made it an ideal product in construction of planes, cars, and medical implants. It doesn’t rust or corrode and doesn’t irritate skin. That made it the ideal choice for Omega when they developed their new Aqua Terra.

The first thing you notice is how light this watch is. It’s made for your active life and perfect for travelers. The Aqua Terra is one of three Worldtimers in Omega’s third major release this year. In addition to the light titanium, you can also find these watches in steel with a bracelet, steel with a green rubber strap, and titanium with a strap.

The real eyecatcher of this watch is the detailed representation of Earth as seen from above the North Pole.  All 5 continents rotate on a laser-ablated topographic map, with a 24-hour indication divided into night and day. 24 major cities are named around the edge keeping you connected to any time zone, no matter where you go. Keeping 24 time zones on one watch face is not an easy accomplishment, but Omega has done it with elegance.

The brushed black ceramic bezel compliments the matte dial texture perfectly. The subtle blackened hands match nicely and make it easy to read. In low light, the hands and indicators glow blue from the Super-LumiNova filling.

If the smokey black color isn’t your style, there are other versions in green and blue. All visually similar to the titanium model but made of heavier steel.

Within the watch is a self-winding movement with co-axial escapement. The certified master chronometer, approved by METAS, is resistant to magnetic fields (up to 15,000 gauss), and is water resistant to 150m (500ft). Most of the movements are visible through the transparent caseback, often made of sapphire. You can expect about 60 hours of reserve from the automatic winding. The case diameter measures 43mm, and 50mm lug-to-lug.

Omega has successfully taken complex inner workings and wrapped them in elegant simplicity. Every internal innovation has given this watch easier functionality. The dynamic operation tracking two dozen time zones, and the captivating map of Earth, make the new Omega Aqua Terra an exciting watch for active travelers.
