The Most Swiss of Watches

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

It’s one of unique brands that can rub off to its other product lines. The Swiss Army pocket knife is an iconic symbol of efficiency, quality Swiss manufacturing, and the benchmark that all other pocket knives are measured against. In a brilliant move by the company, it expanded into timepieces, a selection of watches that represent the Swiss brand’s value propositions. When you buy a Swiss Army watch, you get the same reliability and endurance the pocket knife is known for. Whether it is the I.N.O.X., Chrono Classic, Maverick, or Alpnach, the Swiss Army watch is guaranteed to stand for the perfect fusion of performance and timeless allure. Like the pocket knife that made the brand famous, the watches pass through 100 quality control tests.

I.N.O.X isn’t a watch brand?

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

How strong is an I.N.O.X. watch? Victorinox-Swiss Army CEO Alexander M. Bennouna can give you an idea: “We looked at what is the heaviest engine around us and realized that it’s a 64 ton Leopard tank. We said let’s drive over the watch,” he was quoted in an interview at the recent Baselworld event. We assume the watch survived. I.N.O.X. is said to be super strong that it took the company three years to develop it because the watch underwent 130 strength tests under extreme conditions, the Leopard tank included. Bennouna said I.N.O.X is different because it focuses on quality and durability, rather than luxury and heritage that other top watch brands specialize on. “We are not a watch brand but a Swiss brand making watches.” Perhaps, I.N.O.X. is the very embodiment of the CEO’s point.

For Rugged Guys Who Mean Business

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

Whether we like it or not, we get judged by people through our fashion choices. Darline Price of Well Said, Inc., in an interview with Business Insider, said that even though what you wear defines you and determines your value as a person, it significantly influences how people see you and respond to you. This is why fashion selection and in this case, watch selection. We should choose wisely. If you are the kind of that rugged guy that values functionality, durability and accuracy most, you might not choose models that are all to flashy. But you can't wear big bulging wristwatches reminiscent of kits from 80s spy movies in business meetings. What you want is some middle type watch that is rugged and functional but also means business just like you. The first collection you should scout for this is Swiss Army Business Watches. My favorite in this line is the Chrono Classic with Chronograph. It is the perfect middling watch for durability and business style.

Night Vision

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

The Swiss Army brand is one of the world's most admired and valued signatures, that collecting its watches make a good investment, if not for passion. The Infantry model is a good starting point, until you have enough confidence to collect more sophisticated timepieces like the Night Vision. It is one of Swiss Army's best-selling watches, featuring a steel case treated with “black ice” or titanium plasma color coating. The model has a sleek grey dial in a 42 mm stainless steel case. It exudes the classic Swiss lines and a narrow bezel. But the highlight is the watch's night-vision LED light points. The overall style is dynamic while maintaining the focus on functionality and durability. To create an  aesthetic balance the watch features an army green rubber bracelet.

Swiss Army Watches

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:00 PM in Swiss Army (35)

When it comes to watches and timepieces, it is hard to think of the Swiss to fall second to any other makers. Armed with rich tradition and the deep sense and yearning to innovate, the Swiss had made a name for themselves as one, if not the, best watchmakers and designers in the whole world. One brand though didn’t start out to be a watchmaking company. It, though, scratched the world’s history deep when it invented a revolutionary tool – the Swiss Army Knife. Armed with the same Swiss heritage and drive to create wonderful inventions for the world, this invention rolled out by storm – offering a ton of functionality that fits in one’s pocket. This same drive and Swiss-inspired innovation led the company to also create watches that are both durable and accurate without compromising look. This makes every new Swiss Army model coming out worth checking out.

What else can it be but Swiss?

Posted by Schiffman's at 8:30:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

What can be more Swiss than the Swiss Army knife? At the least, the name is one of the most iconic Swiss brands along with Swiss cheese and the Alps. In fact, Swiss Army now manufactures its line of luxury watches and you guess it, they’re genuine Swiss watches. But what makes a product Swiss in this age of global supply chains? According to Swiss law, a watch can be called Swiss made if its movement is manufactured in Switzerland. Likewise, the watch should be cased up in the country and the final inspection is done in Switzerland. Furthermore, the movement—a conflagration of tiny parts—itself should be assembled and inspected in Switzerland. Likewise, the Swiss manufacture cost should be at least 50% of the total cost. You don’t have to know all these requirements though. When you buy a Swiss Army watch, you know it’s Swiss.

5 Camping destinations in the U.S.

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

You don’t need to leave the country for a summer camping adventure to remember. Good ol’ USA has plenty of excellent places to pitch the tent. Just bring enough enthusiasm, your basic needs like utensils and minimal cooking instruments and, of course, the Swiss Army knife, and you’re set for an outdoor life like no other. If the Northeast beckons to you, head straight to Acadia National Park. It’s got 17 million acres of forest for a total out-in-the-open experience. For a more mountain feel, try the Mountain National Forest in New Hampshire. The Appalachian range is colorfully magnificent on a clear day. Meantime, the Pine Grove Furnace State Park in Pennsylvania offers a cliff-hanger attraction. You get to choose your own rock-climbing cliff, from novice to daredevil levels.

Nothing beats the original

Posted by Schiffman's at 6:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

If it doesn’t say it’s Victorinox, it’s not the Original Swiss Army knife. The original red pocket knife has become an icon for outdoor adventure for both leisure and professional explorers. The idea to combine an all-purpose small knife with a can opener, screwdriver, bottle opener, wire stripper, and reamer gave birth to modern time’s biggest small wonder and spawned more versions that feature more implements. Not the least, copycats flooded the market trying but failing to emulate the durability and seamless functionality of this red reliable piece of workmanship. Today, the Original Swiss Army knife is used in as varied environments as in travel tours, scientific explorations, army campaigns, and camping. In the age when tech gadgets come and go as day and night, it feels good to have an original gadget that stands the measure of time.

Little Kitchen Aids

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

Presenting the Swiss Army knife’s other cousins—a range of high-quality, highly functional kitchen utensils to help you prepare and cook the best dishes. It’s the Swiss Army renowned steel quality transformed into small kitchen aids and with neat-looking design to boot. The potato peeler looks chic in its red, slender handle. The PET bottle opener has seamless lines that blend well in a minimalist kitchen interior. Likewise, the corkscrew looks like a thing from the future, a space-age gadget in all its whiteness and willowy contour. Not to be outdone, the cheese grater is seriously steel with a bold Victorinox logo emblazoned at the top. Likewise, the black and pink peelers look more like a collectible item than a ubiquitous aid. However charming their design, the Swiss Army kitchen utensils are built to perform their function, a habit they inherited from their famous multi-function Swiss pocket knife.

A Cutler's Pride

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

A Swiss Army Company has many faces. Its an enigma of circumstance yet always evolving to become a brand of its own. Swiss Army Company is actually owned and managed by Victorinox Swiss Army Company with Wenger as their subsidiary company. The company primarily manufactures knives and cutlery utensils. Since 1891, it began manufacturing Swiss Army knives and has diversified into quality Swiss made watches. Due to its foreboding influence, it has procured a name analogous with quality and innovation.

It started as producers of knives and cutlery and excelled in this type of products. The company decided that they need not focus on certain products only but other products which Swiss people are famous of, making watches.

Owing to its marketable original name, the company started making watches under the Swiss Army brand. Interestingly, Swiss Army watches started as relatively modest and inexpensive. It was meant to garner quite a market among the public post world war era. The Swiss Army watch was created to withstand the rigors of daily use. These models are still produced today as their Original Collection and still retained the iconic nylon straps, composite cases and highly legible dials which are water resistant.

Going beyond diversification of products, it has created a variety of watches in diverse styles and usage. It has produced models specialized for deep diving watches with diamond crusted for females and watches with mechanical movements.

Nowadays, Swiss Army watches features ETA movements. ETA is a Swiss company which manufactures movements both quartz and mechanical. The movements are known for their exceptional quality and can be found in some timepieces brands such as Omega and Tag Heur

A watch from Swiss Army Company cannot be considered a luxury yet its movements are exceptional in quality. Though a Swiss Army watch may not carry a cachet of some high end watch brands, highest quality of movements is at par with the world's standard. A Swiss Army watch has already reached the pendulum of success, swaying back and forth to the rigors of time with each stride a calculated move for diversity.

These watches are still much sought by watch collectors, to own an original version because to have one is a badge of prestige and honor. It has an immaculate reputation of offering timepieces at affordable cost without the deprivation of quality and accuracy. Even at Swiss Army repair shops, replacement of parts and movements is not a problem as replacement support is always available.

At the moment, Swiss Army watches are produced suited and intended for activities that require too much versatility and speed yet it is meant to survive for use in another time or era. Truly, a watch from Swiss Army Company is a work of durability.

The eventual business decisions on diversification; in order to cater the growing need of the market and at the same time develop the company's expansion on local and abroad, would eventually repackaged the company that would be broad enough, palatable for the future market. It has envisioned itself to progress and reinvent the company and prepare for future changes that will gain impact on the daily activities of man. Broadly speaking, this company would never cease to struggle hard to reconstruct its business interest emulating their founders' values on innovation amidst diversity.

Today, Swiss Army watches carry a great deal of impact especially on modern man. Equipped with designs and features meant to capture the taste of modern man, it has provided an alternative for man to augment its potentials. The potential of enjoying time by watching time. One of the foremost features of a Swiss Army watch is practicality and diversified use. Though sturdy, rough and robust, it exemplified a quality of craftsmanship.

It also conveys an attraction to the modern youth, ready for adventure and thrill.  Among their noted watch collections are the sturdy looking Alpnach, the ever reliable Dive Master, the iconic Maverick, the Airboss, the classic Infantry, chiseled Officer's, effeminate Victoria, and the leather strap Original, modern look Base Camp model, Nycto-inspired Night Vision, Alliance, another model of the Infantry Vintage, the modern Chrono Classic and the Summit XLT model. These models of watches had been classified according to Limited Editions, Chronographs and Mechanical variety.

With this wide array of choices, the company has established itself among the phalanx of the elite watchmakers. It has catapulted itself to the echelons of the remarkable, notable innovators of the new century. The watch they create will become an emblem of their untiring devotion in anticipating the market through its cunning versatility and imbued enthusiasm to excel.

Swiss inventors are noted for its resilience amidst adversity. They always crawl up to the ashes of crises and gloom only to muster enough motivation to survive and succeed in every obstacle. A watch from Swiss Army captivates this spirit of resiliency amidst adversity. A product of hardship and resiliency with a taste of elegance.  A taste exceptionally distinct for a watch intended to quench a taste worth exceptionally satisfying.

Original is (Not) Overrated

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

In a world full of reproductions, watered-down visions, and genuine fakes, being original is a scarcity. Yes, originality takes time, thought and effort; but it is more satisfying to be original because of the sense of accomplishment you get from it. Being original is being unique, the only one of its kind. Whether it is true with jewelries, people, or DVDs, the original is always so much more vivid, more alive than any reproductions you will ever see. So why not go with the original?

Victorinox Swiss Army, maker of the Original Swiss Army Knife, has always been a lover of originals. In fact, in 1989 it released a timepiece called the “Original,” which is still made and sold today with a newer, updated version. Being Swiss Army’s new entry level offering, the Original offers its wearer a brushed aluminum bezel for a trendy touch. The secondhand is adorned with a delicate touch of orange, with the strap being a stylish two-piece leather or three-piece strap, for a completely new look. Not bad for being Original.

Travel with Swiss Army

Posted by Schiffman's at 2:00:00 AM in Swiss Army (35)

Anyone can travel and should travel. Traveling, jolts us awake. For most, traveling is a dream that comes true once a year for the annual vacation. For some, travel is a sweet plan for retirement on a boat, with a backpack or by train. And for a few, travel is an all-consuming passion. You might be traveling to visit family or friends, for work, because you’re relocating, volunteering, sight-seeing or to simply relax on a beach somewhere to get away from it all. But there is a broader question: as a human, why do we travel in the first place? There are a million reasons why people travel: to challenge oneself, to enjoy new experiences, to find oneself, to learn a new language, to experience new cultures, to simply have fun, to see new things, or to basically just eat new food – but people generally travel because of fear. Fear makes travel so enlivening and revelatory. You're perpetually off-balance and on guard. After a while one yearns for the mindlessness of familiar routines. And when you do return home, old pleasures are much the sweeter for having been suspended. One can't think of a better vaccine against dogmatism or a quicker cure for self-satisfaction. As we struggle to reconcile what we're experiencing with what we take for granted, we strip away what's arbitrary in cultural practice and approach what is universal. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. Traveling is an easy way of surrounding ourselves, as in childhood, with what we cannot understand. In other words, we travel because we want to.

Yes, traveling is a way to reverse time, to a small extent, and make a day last a year; we live without a past or future, for a moment at least, and are ourselves up for grabs and open to interpretation.  But that does not mean that we should forget all about time while traveling, right? When you travel a lot, particularly on business you need some form of reliable alarm. Maybe you have a flight to catch, a journey to take or an important meeting to get to. Travel clocks are usually handy for these occasions. They are usually used as a gadget to wake you up from a perfect 'vacation' slumber. If kept under pillow, it will vibrate to wake you up. When you feel like getting on an early morning bus, an alarm clock helps a lot. When you feel like seeing a sunrise, an alarm clock helps a lot. If you’ve got jet lag you know there is a big risk of you over sleeping so you need something to wake you up. When you feel like getting away from people who tell you what and how to spend your holidays then an alarm clock helps a lot as they still sleep. Quite frankly, you can never always rely on someone coming to wake you up, even automated ones have a tendency to go astray.
Taking into account the above premises, it is but natural that Victorinox Swiss Army, a leader in quality, reliability, functionality, innovation and iconic design, would gravitate towards the need to always be on time while traveling. In fact, Victorinox Swiss Army has long embraced the concept to create products designed and built to accompany us through life’s journeys. The requirements of mobility have driven Victorinox Swiss Army’s product designs for more than a century: since 1891, when the Original Swiss Army Knife emerged from Karl Elsener’s cutlery workshop to meet the needs of the soldier in the field; since 1989, when the first Victorinox timepieces combined classic styling with durability equal to the most demanding environments – from the summit to the sea floor. Together with Victorinox Swiss Army’s rugged travel gear, their functional, fashionable men's wear and their distinctive fragrances, these products have taken the Victorinox reputation for innovation and quality and subjected it, successfully, to the tests of trips for business and backpacking, not to mention expeditions to the Amazon Rain Forest, Mt. Everest, the North Pole, even the Moon. Quality. Reliability. Functionality. Innovation. Iconic design. The spirit of the Original Swiss Army Knife is alive and well. Take the spirit with you with Victorinox Swiss Army Travel Alarm 2010 Road Tour Limited Edition. The Victorinox Swiss Army Travel Alarm 2010 Road Tour Limited Edition has a silver dial, black bezel and Ice PVD bracelet, 54 mm in diameter with quartz movement.
With Victorinox Swiss Army Travel Alarm 2010 Road Tour Limited Edition, the more you travel, the further you go, the more you’ll be glad you did.

With a name such as Swiss Army, it’s hard not to find a great product that lives up to its name. In their long line of products and accessories, Swiss Army never fails to astonish its loyal and future customers. When it comes to timepieces collections though, the astonishment is on its high in its aviation inspired functionality watches engineered for technical performance.
