Jewels of your dining table

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

Salisbury not only brings elegance to your dining table; it captures essence and creates a mystic aura in it, a magnet for small talk among your dinner guests or friends. For instance, the Salisbury Golden Lotus Plate recreates for your table set the Buddhist symbol of purity and sacredness. The lotus means hope in eastern religions, symbolized by the drama of the flower springing out of the mud and blooming in white flower. This rebirth and cleansing aura is styled into the Salisbury Golden Lotus Plate. Moreover, the same design is replicated in the cups and saucers to give your table set a complete mystic theme. The pieces are rimmed in gold for extra strength and luxury. These are definitely not just plates, but the jewels of your dining experience.

Tea time

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:55:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

The air is getting crispier, the temperature plummeting. It’s fall again (how time flies) and what better way to keep you warm this season than a hot simmering tea. Yes, they’re healthy, soothing, and classy, a perfect reason to take that Salisbury tea cup set off the display rack. For starters, you can choose from the main tea types. White teas are the least processed and exude a pure, light flavor. Green teas are considered the healthiest because they contain high amounts of antioxidants that fight off cancer. They’re popular in Asia, where they’re often mixed with flowers and fruits for added zing. Oolong teas are full-bodied. If you like your coffee black, you’ll love oolong tea. For a healthier reason to drink tea, you can select from a slew of herbal teas, a growing industry today.

The Salisbury Elegance

Posted by Schiffman's at 6:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

The translucent but strong characteristic of porcelain is the result of art perfection and fine craftsmanship that only a few artists exhibit. In fact, the rare skills of porcelain maker made this material one of the most prized items in the ancient world, particularly in China. But it’s in Europe that transformed porcelain into a luxury signature dining set, mostly reserved for the royalty and the nobility. It’s the same ambiance that you’ll feel when you collect a Salisbury china, at once a utilitarian and luxury piece. Salisbury continues the art of intricate designs and ivory white simplicity reflected in ancient porcelain. But today, the brand uses modern techniques to produce unblemished, chip-resistant sets of saucers, cups, and tea pots. Add elegance to your casual tea time with a Salisbury set.

Salisbury Celebrates Porcelain

Posted by Schiffman's at 7:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

The translucent but strong material of porcelain has always been a prized possession since the ancient times. The Chinese had invented it and the Italians had added flair and style to it. Salisbury celebrates this heritage of art and craftsmanship in its range of bone china dinnerware set. From plates to saucers, to tea sets, the Salisbury name is synonymous to porcelain quality and elegance. The style spans the intricate and plain ivory white spectrum, rendering each Salisbury piece a classic yet contemporary manufacture that guarantees chip-free and unblemished dinnerware set. Likewise, delicate and soft patterns embellish each piece, such as speckled rose petals, a blooming almond plant and an exciting splash of arcadia plant. You can also taste spring in one of the bone china collections featuring yellow and red blossoms and daisies dancing in a play of colors.

A Garden feast

Posted by Schiffman's at 4:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

You don’t have a garden but you wish you can wake up and have breakfast among lovely blooms. No worries. A Salisbury set is like serving a garden bloom on your dining table. It is a cornucopia of colorful flowers and fresh-looking plants that run across the plates, chargers, saucers and cups.  The Orchid set plays with violets and yellow accents for a refreshing feel. The Fairfield plate does not only feature flowers in blue and purple tones; the whole plate is shaped like one. Meanwhile, the Juliana Rose is a lovely wash of pink; how can roses not melt your heart? And the Garland fills up your plate with seemingly freshly cut flowers for a bright good morning. Salisbury has more flower designs across its dinnerware collections.

Shabby chic

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

Want a new look out of a dreary, dark interior? Try shabby chic. It’s an avant-garde art in England that started in the nineties and carried on to this day by people with a taste for an outdoorsy feel. The soft pink flowers in bloom, blue pastels of a Mediterranean sea, the cottony white of clouds in a sunny morning; these are the aspirations of English interior designers caught in their grey, rainy country. You can actually create the shabby chic theme with some of the Salisbury porcelain items. The Bridal Spray tea cup set is awash in pink roses and so does the Almond tea cup. The Chelsea plate has yellow tones to add accents to the general whiteness of shabby chic. Likewise, the American Dogwood, laced with minty green leaves, create depth to your entire shabby chic theme. Feel free to play around the Salisbury items as you paint your house in shabby chic.

Flowers and dinners

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

Flower blooms are a natural theme for fine dinnerware. They exude warmth, beauty and a relaxing touch to a porcelain set.  The designers also have a wide room to express their designs across varied colors of the flowers, leaves and stems. The Salisbury porcelain collection takes this theme to highlight the elegance in its dinnerware. The American Dogwood plays around the soft green leaves with the pure white flowers and capped them with black tips as accent. It creates an easy feel to the plates. Likewise, the Arcadia is liberal with its flowers, adding background flowers and plants to highlight the foreground singular white bloom. It is a garden setting that evokes melancholy, not unlike a late afternoon stroll as the sun sets. Meantime, the Atlanta is more provocative. The deep, dark blue contrasts with the pink flowers rendered in gradient shades from light to dark hues. These are but three collections that exhibit the Salisbury elegance.

Royal treat

Posted by Schiffman's at 8:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

The regal air is evident. Along with this, surely, the intricate patterns are expected. The Salisbury china Mona pattern tea cup and saucer is a timeless beauty that can easily fit in in an old English royal garden breakfast or an afternoon imperial tea break in China’s Forbidden City. The dark tones across blue and red hues are seriously confident in their Salisbury pedigree. The star-rim pattern is rich in details, nothing different from looking straight up at the center of a grand chandelier. The majestic theme runs flawlessly from cup to saucer, reminiscent of the king and queen by each other’s side in harmony. If grandeur is your taste, the Salisbury Mona theme makes sure you get it along with the soothing tea that is poured in the cup.

China made in England

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

What is it with bone china that makes dining so elegant? Is it the gleaming ivory surface or that “tink” that you hear with a slight knock of the spoon on the porcelain? Perhaps it is the irony of fine china, at once delicate and sturdy, that adds to its appeal. After all, not even oceans can claim shiploads of centuries-old porcelain that have been unearthed in recent times, lending further mystic to this luminous material. Many a porcelain attraction is made even starker by a Salisbury dinnerware. Fine bone china that is made in England, the marking confidently proclaims; that’s your guarantee that you are getting genuine bone porcelain that can withstand the times.  The classical patterns in gold-rimmed Salisbury plates are a highlight of porcelain craftsmanship that matches the ancient artisans in the Middle Kingdom.

Revered and sacred

Posted by Schiffman's at 8:00:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

The lotus is a symbol of purity in ancient religions, even a sacred flower in Buddhism. Springing out from mud, the flower emerges unblemished and blooming with hope. It represents a rebirth and cleansing of the soul. Those philosophical meanings may be too much for your dining table, but the Salisbury Golden Lotus plate captures the same aura. The lotus theme also includes cups and saucers, highlighting a golden yellow bloom and rendered with deep shades and smooth gradients on a backdrop of a healthy serving of green. The Golden Lotus pieces are rimmed in gold that makes the line almost a revered collection. A Salisbury piece is designed for utility, over fine dining or a casual lunch.  But we won’t fault you should you put the Golden Lotus plate on a pedestal and protect it behind a locked dinner cabinet. Woe to anyone who touches it.

Turning back the hands of time

Posted by Schiffman's at 2:00:55 AM in Salisbury (32)

I don’t know if it’s just my age, but the pink floral art on the Salisbury tea cup hurls me back in time when life was simple. The Salisbury signature of fresh flowers hanging on their twigs with leaves strewn around the bloom reminds me of my suburban childhood home, a house built to withstand the strongest weather as she was put up to tenderly care for the three kids running wild inside with little care of the outside world. There is a melancholy that this Salisbury cup carries, one that I welcome on a tea break away from the pressure of the now. I half suspect that I developed a taste for tea just so I can use this Salisbury cup my wife gifted me on our anniversary. I can’t believe I’m developing a relationship with a tea cup.

Flowers for all seasons

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:00 PM in Salisbury (32)

Flowers are a favorite among Salisbury collectible porcelain sets. While they differ in detailed rendition, all share a common trait: the seemingly disorderly feminine colors splashed in random patterns, yet the produce an overall soft theme when taken together. The Salisbury porcelain cups, saucers and plates are even made more delicately delectable in the English Bouquet line of pink and white flowers teasing your senses. Equally alluring is the Blossom Time theme of red and yellow flowers, a rather showcase of a cool spring morning. The Daisy theme is bolder; its tan leaves providing a backdrop to its yellow, green and blue flowers. Whatever your favorite floral theme is, a Salisbury arrangement is the suitable choice.

Moody porcelain

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:35:00 AM in Salisbury (32)

Your china can go beyond being delicate and sturdy, as usual with generic porcelain sets. It can go Salisbury. Beautiful delicate patterns adorn a wide range of Salisbury china items. A rose with speckled petals around the plate. An almond plant in bloom that seems to sprout from the saucer and moves onto enveloping the tea cup. An explosion of an arcadia plant in a china plate. Red and yellow blossoms lending a spring feel in your porcelain. A colorful mix of daisies to tease you. The selection of patterns seems endless with each one exuding its own flair. A Salisbury set is not just a porcelain collection; it is a reflection of different moods.
