The Rolex Submariner

Posted by Schiffman's at 11:00:30 AM in Rolex (2)

If you’re a new Rolex fan, the Rolex Submariner is the model that started the dive watch craze. Soon after its release, other luxury watch brands began to release their own versions, but until today, it’s the Rolex Submariner that rules this category. So, if you’re a dive watch lover, it pays to know the king watch to measure other dive watches against. To begin with, the Submariner is not the most luxurious or most durable dive watch today, just as the Swiss Victorinox isn’t the strongest pocket knife, but it’s the most iconic. Rather, the dive watch carries with it Rolex’s reputation for accuracy and quality mechanical watches. Specifically, this dive watch features the Rolex caliber 3130 or 3135, which are renowned for its Parachrom hairsprings and two days of power reserve. Being the original dive watch, too, makes it a highly regarded model.

Rolex isn’t a luxury watch

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Rolex (2)

It’s called the king of watches and not without a reason. The brand is synonymous to luxury watches and even kids know what Rolex stands for: elegant, expensive, luxury Swiss watches. Beyond the top-of-mind awareness, Rolex is a global powerhouse in sales, roughly selling a million units each year more than its competitors. So how did Rolex manage to pull this achievement where other watches can only dream of? It’s no pure luck but a combination of pioneering, engineering innovations, and brilliant marketing centered on celebrity endorsements at a time when the tactic wasn’t popular yet. But mostly, innovation. Rolex was first to introduce water-proof watches, self-winding, date display, and one of the firsts to develop chronographs. A Rolex, while it exudes luxury, is truly an engineering marvel, its true core value.
