Ancient yet modern

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:20 AM in Konstantino (38)

Konstantino combines the grandeur and mystic of ancient  cultures, mainly Greek and Byzantium, and creates modern, wearable jewelry pieces that attract a range of fashionistas. Take, for example, Oprah and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, both seen wearing Konstantino. The two celebrities have an ocean of difference in personality, taste, and preferences, yet they share their love for the jewelry brand. Oprah is perhaps attracted to the lavish design, pearl and semi-precious stone accents, while Richards must have liked the bold, intricate scrollwork, stone insets, and gold/silver combination that are commonly featured in Konstantino works. You can wear the mixed metals any time, talk shows and concerts included. The brand’s most popular pieces include cufflinks featuring chunky link, coin motifs, and cross necklaces.

Ancient Greek can be Rock and Roll Too

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

Konstantino is Ancient Greek culture fused with Rock and Roll. This is how the designer defined his jewelry; and very aptly so. Konstantino pieces are never boring. They are always eye-catching, intricate, and full of that Konstantino special charm. Konstantino has collections and pieces both for men and women. And sometimes when we talk about jewelry, we keep the men outside the conversation. But in this post, we’ll take a look-see at what Konstantino has in store for men. One manly standout is the Sparta Collection – well, even by just judging from the name. The collection makes use of the ever-changing nature of spectrolite stones to capture the tactical military techniques of Spartans. Also, the Ares Collection celebrates the valiant warrior – using sterling silver links, deep black onyx and accents of black diamond.

Both collections are just like what Konstantino said: Ancient Greek and Rock and Roll. To see more of Konstantino designs for men, visit Schiffman’s at Friendly Center.

Ancient Greece to the World

Posted by Schiffman's at 8:10:10 AM in Konstantino (38)

It is undeniable that Ancient Greeks know beauty all too well. Their civilization has captured the world and lives through in many forms in our society – in government, language and in lifestyle. There are just relatively few people in the world that are fortunate enough to live or grow up around Ancient Greek ruins. One of them is Konstantino Sioulas. He grew up in Melitea, a village once belonged to Achilles. The architecture of Parthenon and the Temple of Delphi was his playground growing up. No wonder that this top designer has brought so much of Ancient Greece into his work. Konstantino brings this inspiration to work and provides us with jewelry that elegantly mixes timeless Ancient Greek beauty with modern sensibilities.

Gift giving is a personal taste like buying someone a Konstantino exudes a private and special air. For celebrities, gift-giving can become an eccentric art. Consider these most eccentric celebrity gifts. The Beckhams, in appreciation of their respective mothers for taking care of the kids, reportedly gifted the mothers with $50,000 Audi each. Katty Perry thought buying her former husband a seat in the proposed Virgin Galactic space tour for $200,000 apiece is a cool gift.  Jamie Foxx gave his buddy Robert Downey, Jr. with two thoroughbreds to fill up the latter’s empty stable in his Malibu ranch. Courtney Cox is said to have given her Friends’ co-star Jennifer Aniston with a $12,000 bicycle. And here’s one for the record: Kanye gifted his wife Kim with ten Burger Kings. Imagine Greece in your wrist, around your neck, and on your finger. It’s the Konstantino line of ancient Greece-inspired line of jewelry. The azure sky of the Mediterranean is captured in a Konstantino jewel. The Greek genius is evident in the signature’s classic craftsmanship that is both intricate and delicate. The encrusted gems are set on a maze of delicately wound metal, reminiscent of the contrast displayed by the violent Aegean Sea against the dignified Acropolis. More Blessed than the Gods

Posted by Schiffman's at 11:00:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

Aside from unreachable pride and immeasurable conceit, gods and goddesses possess power beyond any man’s grasp. According to myth, it is believed that man derives graces from the gods which bestow them everything good in the world while calamities are results of the gods’ wrath because of human foolishness. Everything that man has, he owes to the gods and the same does not belong to him. Despite of all the pains and sadness man had suffered, still, man is more blessed than gods. Konstantino treasures—a treasure own by man that no god will ever possess; a chest of endless love and undying beauty. Konstantino is home of the most exquisite and authentic Greek jewelry inspired and influenced by the culture and architecture of Greece—the city of gods; the home of the sages; the cradle of the bravest.

Home of the Gods

Posted by Schiffman's at 7:45:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

Cradle of the Western Civilization, Greece is strategically located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Africa and has land borders with Albania, the Republic of Macedonia, and Bulgaria to the north and Turkey to the northeast. With a population around 11 million, Greece is officially the Hellenic Republic in Southeast Europe.

It is the birthplace of democracy, Western philosophy, the Olympic Games, Western literature and historiography, political science, major scientific and mathematical principles, and Western drama, including both tragedy and comedy. Eighty percent of Greece consists of mountains, of which Mount Olympus is the highest.

In Greek mythology Olympus was regarded as the "home" of the Twelve Olympian gods of the ancient Greek world. It formed itself after the gods defeated the Titans in the Titan War, and soon the palace was inhabited by the gods. It is the setting of many Greek mythical stories.

Greece and its vast Greek culture fascinated people all over the world. It has inspired historical poets and artists with its beautiful architecture and art. It is a paradise of inspiration for writers and designers alike. One of these designers is Konstantino Sioulas. Enthralled with Greek history and the rich legacy of Greek gods and goddesses, Konstantino developed an endless fascination with the artisanship of the earliest Greek jewelry designs. For that reason, he made the house of Konstantino as the jewelry’s Mount Olympus.

Konstantino aims to capture every god’s character in every collection. Fascinated with warrior’s valor, Ares, thr god of war, bloodshed, and violence, the son of Zeus and Hera, was depicted as a beardless youth, either nude with a helmet and spear or sword, or as an armed warrior. While Homer portrays him as moody and unreliable, and he generally represents the chaos of war in contrast to Athena, a goddess of military strategy and skill, Konstantino interprets Ares through the Ares Collection, as strong and mysterious god, featuring bold armament fashioned of sterling silver links, intricately engraved coils, deep black onyx, and accents of black diamond.

His iconic trident symbolizes his kingly domination over the vast seas. God of the sea, rivers, floods, droughts, earthquakes, and the creator of horses; known as the "Earth Shaker". He is a son of Cronus and Rhea and brother to Zeus and Hades. He rules one of the three realms of the universe as king of the sea and the waters. In classical artwork, he was depicted as a mature man of sturdy build with an often luxuriant beard, and holding a trident. The horse and the dolphin are sacred to him. His wedding with Amphitrite is often presented as a triumphal procession.  The spear of Poseidon’s trident sent the deep blue waters crashing against the shimmering shores of Ancient Greece. The powerful Poseidon makes waves with the nautical motif of the Poseidon collection, wrought in precious metals from the depths of earth and lapis lazuli as rich as the ocean blue. The Poseidon Collection is one of Konstantino’s best.

No god can ever endure his wrath. King of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and fate, Zeus is the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea. He overthrew Cronus and gained the sovereignty of heaven for himself. In artwork, he was depicted as a regal, mature man with a sturdy figure and dark beard. His usual attributes are the royal scepter and the lightning bolt, and his sacred animals are the eagle and the bull.  Konstantino captures that might and power through knotted cable and cross motifs in his Zeus Collection; the King of all Gods, Zeus dominated the skies of Ancient Greece. As though forged of thunder, this sterling silver and 18k gold collection symbolizes his strength and masculinity.

Konstantino uses the ancient engraving and etching techniques found in early Greek jewelry. He wants people to look for the echoes of history in each piece and feel their timeless craftsmanship and enduring beauty that is truly Konstantino. A traditional art blend with his masterful interpretation of magnificent designs, a perfect balance and contrast of soft and strong elements all merged to create a Greek-inspired jewelry masterpiece.

Beyond any myth, Konstantino Sioulas is truly a remarkable gift from the heavens. Aside from the history, art and mythology, Konstantino is one of the greatest gifts Greece has given to the world and his pieces are what even Mount Olympus gods would love to wear.

The World’s Original Rock Star

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

In 18th century Italy, no musician was as renowned as Niccolo Paganini. Regarded as a violin virtuoso, he was a child prodigy who pioneered a number of creative techniques, and was capable of playing three octaves across four strings in a hand span, a nearly impossible feat, even by today’s standards. And because of such amazing ability coupled with extraordinary creativity, audiences thought Paganini made a pact with the devil to be able to perform supernatural displays of technique! In truth however, the reason for the joint mobility in his fingers was the “Ehlers-Danlos” disorder which he suffered along with the “Marfan Syndrome” which gave him long limbs and fingers.

Niccolo Paganini, the world’s greatest violin virtuoso, even more than a century after his death, continues to amaze and mesmerize audiences, not only thru his music but also through Konstantino’s passion and belief in his music. Celebrate his virtuoso and creative lust with Konstantino’s carved black onyx collection, designed for men with the classic appeal of Paganini, the world’s original rock star.

Strength and Masculinity

Posted by Schiffman's at 3:00:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

In Greek myth, Zeus is known as the sky god, the rain god and cloud gatherer who wielded the terrible thunderbolt, Mount Olympus' supreme ruler, and the supreme ruler of all the other Greek goddesses and gods in the Olympian pantheon. His breastplate was the aegis, his bird the eagle, his tree the oak. He is represented as the god of justice and mercy, the protector of the weak, and the punisher of the wicked. He is the master of wise judgment and justice and is the prototypical philosopher who has the capacity to temper severity with mercy and compassion.

Inspired by such powerful character and timeless symbolism, Konstantino developed a collection that embodies the rich legacy of this Greek god. As though forged of thunder, the sterling silver and 18k gold “Zeus” collection features knotted cable and cross motifs — symbols of not only the law, but that creative energy which is the constant urge to spill out and propagate itself.

A Greek-Inspired Beauty

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Konstantino (38)

There is a palpable aura of strength to Konstatino’s jewelries. Inspired by the art, architecture, and mythology of ancient Greece, Konstantino jewelry is designed and handcrafted by master artisans in Athens. If only the Greek Civilization is as alive as it was centuries ago, they would have put an “approved” stamp along Konstantino’s line of jewelries. Surrounded by Greece's spectacular ancient architecture, and knowledgeable of Greek legends, Konstantino Sioulas, Konstantino’s founder, is keenly aware of his ripe inspirational palette. "My father taught me constantly about Greek philosophy, art, and history," he offers, "My village, Melitea, belonged to the warrior Achilles of Troy. Knowing this famous warrior had actually lived in my birthplace had a lifelong impact." The company Sioulas built believes in hard work, sweat and a classic style aura, the end result is a jewelry that can be worn by anyone, anywhere, with anything--banker to rocker, young to old. The Konstantino Treasures line of jewelry, apart from being hand made from Greece, is well known for its unique designs and unparalleled craftsmanship. Enthralled with Greek history and the rich legacy of Greek gods and goddesses, Konstantino developed an endless fascination with the artisanship of the earliest Greek jewelry designs – one of which is the Astritis Collection—a  graceful offering that diverts from the usual artisan homage to Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty.  In a world of mass-production, Konstantino's dedication to preserving culture over creating commodity has given each piece of Konstantino a history, a substance, and a soul.
Throughout time, artisans pays reverence  to the magnificent goddess, but Konstantino who has already made one, did not only devote itself to Aphrodite but also to a lifetime of creating modern expressions of ancient Greek jewelry. This time, Astritis is in the center of Konstantino’s new collection from Konstantino, appealing to our inner oracle with the allure of the Astritis collection. The guardian of secrets, Astritis, the snake beguiles mortals and gods, her presence a symbol of life’s many mysteries. . Fused into objects of beauty, this stunning collection uses sterling silver,18-kt gold, diamonds, and gemstones, precious stones, intaglios (images cut into stone) and ancient coins, creating timeless luxury and beauty. The collection is composed of Byzantine Empire-inspired pieces that are etched and engraved using the same ancient engraving and etching techniques found in early Greek jewelry. Meticulous attention to detail is found in the Byzantine etchings on the reverse sides of each piece. That is why Konstantino’s jewelry is different from any other. Konstantino’s designs are timeless and universal – they come from the core of civilization with the elements of the modern world.

For the woman who craves timeless beauty and effortless elegance, Konstantino’s Astritis collection is handcrafted with you in mind. With sophisticated designs that are rich in tradition, the collection offers a breathtaking sterling silver cuff etched matte crystal bracelet that measures approximately 1/1/8” wide, at the widest point, fitting up to and including a 71/4” wrist. The bracelet features six gorgeous, faceted, soft green amethyst (prasiolite) stones going all the way around the bracelet.  The detail work on the piece is absolutely exquisite and it looks stunning on for day or evening wear! Simply taking about it cannot possibly do the work of art justice.
The Astritis collection also includes items that are adorned beautifully with emeralds. Emeralds are associated with love, fidelity, inspiration, wisdom, harmony, growth, patience, peace and abundance. The color green of the emerald has always had an association with spring and rebirth. In fact, ancient Egyptians often buried mummies with an emerald hung from their neck in hopes of providing eternal youth. With this in mind, consider the Astritis green amethyst earrings, a clover pendant and cocktail ring that no doubt you’ll feel the timeless craftsmanship and enduring beauty when you wear it.

The Astritis collection, true to its name as the guardian of secrets, consequently, offers a cross pendant that features a secret compartment. And who would forget the classic mother-of-pearl, the gift of nature that possesses a mysterious and beckoning iridescence? Certainly, not Konstantino, in this collection. The Astritis collection includes a storied and faceted Mother-of-Pearl Dangle Earrings that conjure the romance of ancient Greece. It is a sterling silver with 18-karat yellow gold detail with post backs. The Mother-of Pearl Dangle Earrings certainly do reflect light from the ethereal heavens above. It reminds the wearer to “have faith” with a Greek orthodox inscription.

Sioulas also designs wristbands, coin pendant necklaces, dog tag necklaces, and cuff links for men. He approaches his men's jewelry collection as he does the women's: to inspire with symbols of strength like Adonis or Pegasus embossed in bronze and set against an antique silver background.

Indeed, Konstantino has become the definition of rich European jewelry, hand-crafted by master artisans utilizing elegant and dramatic engraving and filigree workmanship.  To see more of the epitome of Greek beauty and craftsmanship, visit Schiffman’s in Downtown Greensboro.
