Finger shapes and diamond cuts

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:45:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

When choosing a diamond ring also remember that the shape of your fingers matters to the type of cut you should wear. Like how a pair of earring type complements facial shape, diamond cut solitaire also matches specific finger shapes. A pear cut solitaire is ideal for round fingers. Its pointed end creates a narrow illusion that “trims” the roundness of the fingers. If you have muscular fingers, on the other hand, you should go for square solitaire, whose bold edges can steal the attention from your fingers’ boldness. Meanwhile, emerald diamonds like a Christopher Designs is ideal for thin fingers. The trendy allure of an emerald cut also lends to you a younger appearance. If you’re unsure what finger shape you have, you can always go for round cuts, the most classic style that applies to any finger shape.

Grand wedding

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (1)

Most women (and men) would love to hold a grand wedding to mark their union. The reasons are as varied as there are different wedding cake themes possible. Some want a grand wedding to showcase their success or impress their guests. Some see a grand wedding as a symbol of their love for each other. Others still go for a grand wedding because it’s the only chance to see the whole clan together; hence, the wedding becomes a sort of family reunion, too. But what really makes a wedding grand isn’t the elaborate cake or the glitzy beach resort venue for the wedding. Neither is it even the luxurious Christopher Designs Crisscut wedding rings nor the VIPs in the guest list. The grandeur comes from having a fun moment with each other and with everyone, enjoying every minute of the wedding and seeing everyone sharing your fun-filled momentous day.

Your Own Brand of Unique

Posted by Schiffman's at 4:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Every human being that has ever lived, or ever will live, is unique. You are truly one of a kind. However, one of the greatest tragedies of human life is trying to be unique in a sea of uniqueness. Many people feel that they are unique when in fact they are simply following another trend. When uniqueness is a trend, no one is very unique. Now think about not only how hard it is to accomplish uniqueness and how few successful people actually pass the strict dictionary definition of “unique.” With Christopher Designs, however, uniqueness is handed out to you in a silver platter, or to be precise in an exquisite diamond. Through its One of a Kind Collection under its Fine Jewelry Line, uniqueness is not too hard to find.

Count your blessings

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:50 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Pulitzer winning novelist Thornton Wilder once shared this inspiring quote: "We can only be said to be alive in those moments when our hearts are conscious of our treasures." In this highly materialistic world of ours, can you remember when was the last time you really got satisfied with what you have? Since time immemorial, wise men had claimed that being constantly grateful makes people happier. Today, this philosophy is being supported by scientific studies, which found evidence that gratitude makes people attain elevated degrees of positive energy, satisfaction, optimism and vigor. Grateful individuals tend to have greater aptitude for compassion and are less susceptible to stress and depression. Indeed, we don't need to have everything in this life to be genuinely happy, we only need to make the most of what we have. This is among the values that Christopher Designs shares through its myriad of elegant jewelry collections, that true happiness is not found in acquiring many things but just in learning how to count one's blessings.

The Crisscrossing Uniqueness

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

The Christopher Designs Crisscut Diamond is easy to spot because it glows brighter than industry standard diamonds. It reflects a more intense fire, a reminder that this gemstone has come from the earth's bowels, compressed into minute facets over millions of years. The Crisscut design features a crisscrossing cut that reveals the multiple facets of the diamond. This creates more brilliance that engages the eye and melts the heart of anyone looking into the gemstone. Christopher Designs took decades of craftsmanship to perfect this diamond cutting process. The founder, Christopher Slowinski, has learned the art from his long experience with master jewelers in Europe more than thirty years ago. Today, his crisscrossing cutting technique is a standalone process protected by U.S. and international patents, a unique achievement in the industry.

Get out of the routine

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Remember the first time you met each other years ago? Wasn’t it exciting and you felt a sense of a fuller life?  That’s because it’s something new. When we encounter something new, our brains switch to the exploration mode, when we try to discover things. But once we’re used to the situation, our brains allocate this “new” experience at the back of our mind or to our subconscious. In a relationship, that means going through the motion of the routine; both of you wake up in the morning, eat breakfast, and go to the office without much thought about your relationship. It’s nature and not to be taken as the relationship being taken for granted. Of course, it helps sometimes to break this monotony just to get a glimpse of that excitement many moons ago. How? Give her a surprise gift, for instance, a Christopher Designs ring. That should bring back a flood of good old memories.

Love's imaginings

Posted by Schiffman's at 9:30:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Looking at the impressive Christopher Designs diamond ring, you remember the grandeur of love. Do you still remember that time when your world revolved around the romantic notion of love? Dreams of lovely kisses thrown across white clouds and the breeze of Mediterranean blue sea and your arms wrapped around your partner. Like the don in the film, Don Juan De Marco, you imagined about faraway lands where you and your loved one would find this place and settle away from the hustle of the busy world. It seemed a world away now, but you could still remember visions of pirates and damsels in distress, of lovers and tears of a broken heart. In the movie, the don imagined his love waiting for him in the island of Eros, Greece; only to show us at the end, his imaginings are real. Maybe your romantic dreams may still yet to come.

Meet Christopher

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Meet the artist behind the renowned Crisscut diamond brand, Christopher Designs. Christopher Slowinski was born in Poland, where he apprenticed for master jewellers and craftsmen in traditional European style. He’d migrated to the United States soon to continue his training and expand his luxury craftsmanship using advanced technology. The result is his patented Crisscut signature, an arrangement of 77 crisscrossing facets inside the diamond that creates more brilliance and scintillation. Generic diamonds only contain an average of 48 facets. He started with emerald shape and later on explored the possibilities in other diamond types. He redefined the generic round and created the Brilliant Crisscut, touted as not only a masterpiece of art, but also a remarkable engineering feat. The stone has 109 facets with 12 straight walls and 12 sides that make this cut a true gem of the diamond jewelry industry.

A Diamond that Glows Brighter

Posted by Schiffman's at 7:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Thirty years ago, Christopher Slowinski migrated to America from Europe to seek his fortunes. But instead of looking for the treasure chest, he brought with him his own: a boxful of knowledge and mastery in diamond jewelry from master jewelers in Europe. He introduced Americans to a brighter kind of diamonds, one that reflects an intense fire that seems to have come from the earth’s core. Thus, the renowned Crisscut Diamond came to American consciousness, the multifaceted diamond cut perfected and patented by Christopher Designs. He cut multiple facets in equal proportions and positioning them at exact angles to allow in more light as well as bounce off more radiance from the inside. It’s the same guaranteed innovation and Christopher’s passion for the perfect diamond that you’ll enjoy in your Christopher Designs wedding band or engagement ring.

The Mystery of the Emerald

Posted by Schiffman's at 7:00:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

A relatively hard stone, the emerald is known for its naturally occurring internal flaws called inclusions. These inclusions generally make the stone vulnerable to breakage and difficult to cut and so a “cut” is developed—a stepped, rectangular cut with cropped corners today we know as the “emerald cut”. Because the cut has long lines, it tends to have broad and dramatic flashes of light which jewelers found fitting to cut a diamond.

Christopher Designs, a virtuoso in diamond jewelry, found the cut very interesting and developed an exclusive cut and patented as the CrissCut Emerald. While a normal emerald cut has 46 facets, the CrissCut Emerald can manage 77 facets creating unmatched brilliance and scintillation. The neat lines of the CrissCut Emerald give elegance from the simplest to the most complex ring settings.

The best “emerald cut” is now at Schiffman’s! CrissCut Emerald is available at Schiffman’s in Downtown Greensboro. Schiffman’s is a proud dealer of Christopher Designs.

To See the Best of Cs

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:50:00 AM in Christopher Designs (36)

Unbreakable—diamond is the hardest substance on earth. There are numerous scientific terms about diamonds that a layman, without researching, will not understand. Most of us know diamonds not about their chemical composition and properties but because they are the most famous celebrities in jewelry. And because we are familiar with jewelry, we are familiar with diamonds and so with the 4 C’s. Cut, Color, Clarity and Carat—these four C’s are the determinative factors to value our diamonds.

We have to know these kinds of things, because these C’s are as important as your loved one whom you will give diamond jewelry. We don’t want to waste your money for a crap and so do you. You have to make sure that you are paying for is truly worth your money. We can tell you to buy a Christopher Designs piece, but we want to clarify some important points to consider.

First is the Cut. Most diamonds are cut round with full 58 facets, and a good cut, or make, has more scintillation, more sparkle. It is the work of a master cutter that allows the diamond to be cut in such a way as to permit the maximum amount of light to be reflected through the diamond, and that's a great reflection on you. It is the cut that enables a diamond to make the best use of light. Christopher Designs is patented with the exclusive CrissCut, giving more than 109 facets, allowing superior brilliance and maximum light in your diamond.

Next is the Color. Diamond color is graded according to the GIA Grading Scale. Grades are based on the amount of yellow that is visible when viewed face-down through the pavilion on a white diamond color card using daylight equivalent fluorescent light. Each color grade is based on a very small range. When a diamond is color graded it is compared using a set of master stones. Master stones are a set of real diamonds that display a range of known colors. It is extremely difficult to see the color differences within diamonds, but master stones help graders distinguish between one color and the next.

By dropping one color grade in diamond, you will not be giving up anything in the look of your diamond and you will be saving money, especially when you buy diamond from Christopher Designs.

The diamond's clarity is a description of its internal purity. With fewer imperfections within the stone, the diamond is rarer and has a higher value. The clarity scale was developed by the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) to quantify these imperfections. The American Gem Society (AGS) uses the same standards as the GIA; however, the AGS uses a numerical system where "0" is the cleanest (GIA "IF") and "10" is the most imperfect (GIA "I3"). All diamonds are systematically graded and plotted under 10X magnification. If a trained grader cannot see a clarity characteristic at 10X, it does not affect the clarity grade.

Usually with diamonds possessing SI1 clarity, Christopher Designs are more than happy to give you the information you are looking for in your diamond, including its clarity. Diamond specifications are given even to most minute details.

Finally, the Carat. A carat is a weight measuring unit equal to 0.2 grams. It is the internationally used unit to measure the weight of diamonds. As nature would have it, rough diamonds come in all shapes and sizes, as well as colors and purities. The larger, whiter and cleaner the diamond, the more rare it is. Accordingly, the cost per carat of a larger diamond of the same color, clarity and cut will be higher than a smaller diamond. The price per carat of diamonds rises proportionately with size. Keep in mind that the per carat price gets multiplied by the carat weight.

Of course at Christopher Designs, we offer diamonds at different weights. While you are guaranteed to the exactness and quality of diamonds you purchase, we gladly inform you that we offer the best prices, reasonably affordable depending on the over-all look Christopher Designs pieces can make.

Comes in Round, Emerald, Cushion and Asscher CrissCuts, Christopher Designs, an established jewelry company spearheaded by the owner and designer himself, Christopher Slowinski offers the best of diamonds today possessing superiority in all 4 C’s—CrissCut diamonds; the high-quality and world-class produce only from the master diamond jewelry company, Christopher Designs.

In the Round

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:00 PM in Christopher Designs (36)

The Planets, the sun, most clock faces, wheels, seeds, eyeballs, coins, rings, cells, portals, fruit, egg – in one way or another are all round-shaped things. The circle or round shape symbolizes a lot of things. It represents centering, focus, unity, initiation, perfection – everything.

Much like the symbolism offered by a circle, Christopher Slowinski, who founded Christopher Designs in 1976, creates and finishes his exclusive designs with centering, focus, unity, initiation, perfection, everything. With his brand, Christopher Designs, he combines his classic jewelry training with modern technology to create exclusive designs that include his patented Crisscut stones, one of which is the Crisscut Round. Cut from AGS ideal "triple zero" diamonds, the Crisscut Round boasts 109 facets, which radiate unequaled brilliance. Although it appears round, the stone actually has 12 straight walls and 12 sides, each so flawlessly cut that a dozen arrow point perfectly to the stone's center. The diamond's edges break the light, creating the illusion of an exquisitely scalloped border.

Cut to Perfection

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:00 PM in Christopher Designs (36)

Most of the time, if not always, our look represents who and what we are, thus, our overall appearance matters. Aside from our fashion in clothing and accessories, our crowning glory makes up our head’s centerpiece. So it is very important that we get the best hairstyle that will definitely complement our overall look, and to have the best hairstyle, our haircut should be perfect. Cut is so important that even diamonds derived their beauty from it.  Superior brilliance and scintillation come from diamonds with superior cuts. In jewelry, like our crowning glory, diamonds should also find the perfect cut; perfection that’s only coming from Christopher Designs.

Although not a barber, Christopher Slowinski cuts diamonds so perfectly.  Slowinski founded Christopher Designs in 1976. Born in Poland, Slowinski apprenticed under master jewelry craftsmen in his native country and in the United States. He was awarded three U.S. patents for his revolutionary work in cutting diamonds. He combines his classic jewelry training with modern technology to create exclusive designs that include his patented Crisscut diamonds.

With 77 “crisscrossed” facets originally used in emerald and cushion Crisscut.  Redefining the look of diamonds, the introduction of the first Crisscut flourished quickly. Always been intrigued with taking something established and making it even more beautiful, Slowinski uses high standard technology to produce exceptional beauty among his diamonds because superior technology results in superior produce.

The Crisscut is the trademark remarkably to possess advanced and state of the art engineering.  Coming in four cuts, Emerald, Cushion, Asscher and Round, Christopher Designs diamonds have left all branded diamonds inferior and ordinary.

Originally, the Cushion Shape was once the most admired diamond cut but due to having no set proportions, it was very difficult to find two matching stones, resulting in the Cushion Cut's status to give the spot light and pave way  to a more  contemporary and trendy Round Cut diamonds. But because Christopher Slowinski is a diamond genius, Christopher Designs has formulated a technique and ignited once again the long lost fame well-deserved by the Cushion. Now, by applying the Crisscut facet arrangement, it has been able to provide the clientele with a visually aesthetic stone possessing an unmatched intensity and deep fire brilliance. Today we know it as the Cushion Crisscut.

The Asscher Cut diamond is known for its pace facet configuration and is named after its developer Joseph Asscher. The Asscher cut accomplished in drawing the eye into the center of the stone creating the impression of immense profundity but Asscher had an unfortunate side effect, it was a loss of brilliance due to light dodging out the bottom of the stone called light leakage. But through Christopher’s fashionable Crisscut facet configuration, Christopher Designs has figured out and solved the mystery for increasing the Asscher's brilliance creating the illusion of depth and fire.

Cut from AGS ideal "triple zero" diamonds, the Crisscut  Round shows off 109 facets, exuding unmatched radiance. The stone actually has 12 straight walls and 12 sides, each so flawlessly cut that a dozen arrow point flawlessly to the stone's midpoint. The diamond's edges break the light, creating the illusion of an exquisitely scalloped margin. Christopher Designs introduce the Round in 2008 and although related to the 58 faceted round brilliant diamonds, it possesses unique and distinct quality making it an original cut.

For more than fifteen years, the Crisscut Emerald diamond's superior brilliance and remarkable scintillation has captured the hearts and attention of fashion enthusiasts and jewelry collectors alike. Christopher Designs is so popular worldwide that makes its Crisscut diamonds as the most sought after diamonds for the facets that consistently bouncing the light off and giving the Crisscut diamond a life and an illusion of flames, scintillation and brilliance—a perfection found only from Christopher Designs.

Each diamond has a Christopher Slowinski personal touch. There’s no stone cut and set in New York that Christopher has never laid a hand on, another quality that makes his diamonds extra special.  “There isn’t a stone that is cut or a setting that is cast in our New York City factory that I don’t personally inspect. Christopher Designs is proud of its work and stand by every piece that leaves its workshop.” says Christopher.

Even stars are no match to the Crisscut. True, stars dazzle in the night skies, but Crisscut diamonds glow at any time, day or night. With Christopher Designs, your diamonds are cut into perfection giving it the maximum brilliance and immortality that stars don’t possess; and while stars die, your diamonds last forever.

Who can forget that day when your one true love knelt and opened a dainty box or that day when you said “I do” to each other? Avowals of love are always symbolized by a diamond ring.Since your moments are as precious as diamonds, your moments matter more than anything,  and too keep that moment forever, Christopher Designs is here to provide just what you need.

Christopher Designs diamond engagement and wedding rings are expertly crafted using the finest materials and technology available. Designer Christopher Slowinski has been awarded three U.S. patents for his groundbreaking work in setting and cutting diamonds. The amazing Crisscut Diamond is recognized for its superior brilliance and fire, giving Christopher Designs rings a distinct and beautiful appearance above all others.

Christopher Slowinski, the designer, founded Christopher Designs in 1976. Born in Poland, he trained under master jewelry craftsmen in his native country and in the United States. The original Crisscut was launched with the arrangement of the 77 crisscrossed facets which pushed the boundaries of how brilliant a diamond could possibly be. This facet arrangement was initially used for emerald shapes and later for the Crisscut Cushion. “I have always been intrigued with taking something established and making it even more beautiful,” explains Slowinski. “That’s why the technological side of jewelry making has always been as important as the aesthetic value of my collections.” While ‘designer diamonds’ have come and gone, the Brilliant Crisscut earned its trademark for remarkable engineering. This unique stone has 109 facets. Although it appears round, the Brilliant Crisscut actually has 12 straight walls and 12 sides, creating the illusion of an exquisitely scalloped border.

The Crisscut comes in four superb types, Crisscut Round, Crisscut Asscher, Crisscut Cushion and Crisscut Emerald.

Introduced in 2008, the Crisscut  Round features 109 facets, which emits unequaled brilliance. Although related to the popular 58-facet round brilliant diamond, it possesses a set of its own. Cut from AGS ideal "triple zero" diamonds, although it appears round, the stone actually has 12 straight walls and 12 sides, each so flawlessly cut that a dozen arrow point perfectly to the stone's center.

Named after its developer Joseph Asscher, the Asscher Cut diamond was introduced in the early 20th century. The Asscher cut succeeded in drawing the eye into the center of the stone creating the illusion of great depth through its step facet configuration. But an unfortunate side effect was a loss of brilliance due to light escaping out the bottom of the stone or light leakage. But through constant efforts and research, the application of its exclusive Crisscut facet configuration, Christopher Designs has developed a solution for maximizing the Asscher's illusion of depth without compromising brilliance and light.

The Old-Mine Cut or Cushion Cut was once the most popular cut of diamond but because there were no set proportions, it was very difficult to find two matching stones, causing the Cushion Cut's popularity to eventually pave way for Round Cut diamonds. But Christopher Designs never gave up discovering techniques to solve this concern. Through its undying persistence, Christopher Designs has developed a way to bring a formula to solve the problem and ablaze the Cushion's trademark fire. And by applying the Crisscut facet configuration, it has been able to provide the clientele with a innovative and exceptional stone possessing an unparalleled intensity and stunning luminosity.

Crisscut Emerald is the prime culprit why Christopher Designs enjoys its wide popularity for almost fifteen years because of Crisscut Diamond's remarkable scintillation and brilliance. Crisscut's unique facet configuration and arrangement is simply one of the most brilliant and unique ways to cut a diamond to maximize its aesthetic beauty and quality. The facets constantly bounce light off one another and give the Crisscut Diamond a life and depth of fire or light dispersion, scintillation and brilliance or white light making it superior than any other.

Today, he combines his classic jewelry training with modern technology to create exclusive designs that include his patented Crisscut stones. Like his diamond cuts, Christopher Slowinski is as brilliant as his end products. No wonder why Christopher Designs is a top choice when it comes to engagement and wedding rings and bands. Creating his marvelous pieces is always a serious job for Christopher. It is the result of his passion and love for art and jewelry designing and numerous years of constant research and discovery to provide unique and original ways of cutting diamonds making them priceless treasures.
