The Metalsmiths for you

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:39:20 AM in Metalsmiths Sterling (34)

It's difficult to place Metalsmiths Sterling's Marquise collection. On one end, it evokes royalty and sophistication. The checker-cut stone gives a luxurious centerpiece to the item, whether a necklace pendant or ring gem. The pattern draws the eye to the stone's core, exuding a commanding presence. On the other end, the collection is dramatic, even seductive. The blue, yellow, and green gem accents provide a sensual feel to the ruggedly bold sterling silver texture of the jewelry. Yet another, the Marquise features the signature Metalsmiths Sterling hallmark, making the line a conservative, heritage collectible. Perhaps the best way to describe this collection is to see it from your point of view. Whether you feel royal, rugged, or conservative, this Metalsmiths Sterling collection works for you.

Opulent oriental art

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:37:16 AM in Lladro (32)

If you have a thing for grandeur and opulence for your interior set, you can't go wrong with Lladro's Chinese and Indian mystic figurines. Both ancient civilizations are rich in intricate styles, whether in the arts, culture, and beliefs. The same oriental depth is captured by Lladro in its porcelain figurine collections. For one, it captures the deep red and blue hues of the Hindi Goddess Lakshmi. Her golden headdress flows seamlessly with the gown and her hands are symbolic of peace and sharing. On the other hand, the Chinese dragon figurines are featured in detailed scales and eyes that evoke an intense look. They pose aggressively, as if threatening the admirer of the figurine with a fiery breath. Equally impressive is the Guardian Lioness, its body armor and strong stance exude royalty.

Price is right

The right wedding ring for you and your partner depends on your preference. If you want a unique wedding ring that can be a conversation magnet, the Mémoire colored diamond ring is a good candidate. However, if you want a conservative look that toes the line of traditional weddings, the Mémoire small diamonds featuring a solitaire suits the occasion. It evokes a classic elegance that you can even transform into an heirloom for your future daughter. For other couples, price may be a factor. Mémoire has an array of diamond rings pegged across price levels. Bear in mind that it isn't the price itself that makes a purchase valuable; it's the value of the item as justified by the price. What's your favorite Marco Bicego?

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:25:20 AM in Marco Bicego (46)

Marco Bicego once admitted that his jewelry lines are not for the budget conscious. They are expensive, he said, precisely because they are designed with passion and created by hand. You don't see exactly identical Marco Bicego pieces, which means owning one gives you a pride of exclusivity. One of our favorite Marco Bicego collections is Jaipur, named after the ancient Indian city of rajahs. The collection is inspired by the city's love for colorful gemstones. The connection is most evident in the Jaipur necklace, a series of colored gem drops along a fine gold string. Ironically, the simplicity of this style makes the necklace even more magnificent, giving you a sense of the past when Indian royalties had worn these gems with pride and opulence. The gems include  amethyst, peridot, lemon citrine, blue topaz, and green tourmaline.

Mix and match your dinnerware

Posted by Schiffman's at 10:00:00 AM in Michael Aram (36)

Michael Aram collections add a twist to typical fine dining collections, which are often replete with fine porcelain and ceramics. The brand's signature nickel plate, stainless steel, and metal craft pieces provide an accent, a break from the usual suspects in luxury dinnerware. Likewise, they lend to your set a modern feel, while  keeping an elegance to it. You can complement your existing fine china set with Michael Aram's candlestick holders or food servers. The fruit plates and bowls are also a good match to ceramic plates to give your dinnerware set deeper texture. Likewise, you can add context to your event's theme, for instance, the Atelier is great as a centerpiece or buffet table highlight, while the Gourd and Vine theme is ideal for garden weddings.

When you’re stumped what gift to buy

Posted by Schiffman's at 2:00:00 AM in Ne'Qwa (32)

There are occasions when you need to give someone a gift, but you have no idea what to give. All you know is the gift must be special or precious, but if you don’t personally know the recipient--a value client, for instance--how do you know the gift to pick? You’re in gift limbo zone and the best way to address it is to give something neutral so as not to offend or create an awkward situation (imagine giving a wine to someone battling alcoholism). Books are ideal for this cases. Whether the recipient loves reading or not, books give a caring, serene feel. Porcelain display like Ne'Qwa also suits the situation. It’s gender neutral, and the item is worth keeping even if it means in a box safely tucked in the cabinet.

Ancient yet modern

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:20 AM in Konstantino (44)

Konstantino combines the grandeur and mystic of ancient  cultures, mainly Greek and Byzantium, and creates modern, wearable jewelry pieces that attract a range of fashionistas. Take, for example, Oprah and Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones, both seen wearing Konstantino. The two celebrities have an ocean of difference in personality, taste, and preferences, yet they share their love for the jewelry brand. Oprah is perhaps attracted to the lavish design, pearl and semi-precious stone accents, while Richards must have liked the bold, intricate scrollwork, stone insets, and gold/silver combination that are commonly featured in Konstantino works. You can wear the mixed metals any time, talk shows and concerts included. The brand’s most popular pieces include cufflinks featuring chunky link, coin motifs, and cross necklaces.

Pasta jewelry

Posted by Schiffman's at 1:00:00 AM in Orange Howell (32)

One of Orange Howell’s favorite inspirations, pasta, gives pendants an artistic street life flavor that you can wear on casual days. The Pendants O.H. Macaroni comes in various pasta types and in different gold and silver combinations. The leather is in hazelnut, which goes well with earth and neutral color clothes. Orange Howell is known for its orange peel and pasta mimics, and these pendants showcase the signature craftsmanship that had put the brand in display in glamorous places as The Ritz-Carlton, The Plaza Hotel, and Wynn Las Vegas. The collections carry their respective stories, namely, the Penne Heart pendant features a gold penne kissing a silver penned and tied in a heart hazelnut leather knot. Another interesting macaroni pendant is the Bow Tie Pendant, which shows a pasta tweaked to shape like a bow tie in silver.

John Hardy becomes even more luxurious

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:15 PM in John Hardy (41)

John Hardy recently announced that the brand is transitioning from a “collection-based fashion jewelry” to an iconic luxury signature. The move was aligned with the introduction of the brand’s 2015 fall collections, which feature more gold and stone work that exude more opulence. “[The] brand has revisited the original icons of John Hardy and is working from their authenticity to edit, elevate, and modernize,” a press statement reported. However, the company said it will continue with the legacy of John Hardy’s artisan-inspired luxury creativity. A new interim creative director was installed to oversee the transitions, a company spokesman said. With the departure of the brand’s head designer for 16 years, Guy Bedirada--who is also a part owner--John Hardy is expected to be heading on direct competition with other luxury brands.

Orrefors in Volvo?

Posted by Schiffman's at 12:00:00 PM in Orrefors (33)

You may know Orrefors as the elegant, exciting Swedish fine glass signature that makes fine dinnerware, stemware, and desk accessories. But there’s one Orrefors creation that you won’t see in any of the brand’s catalogs: gearshift. That’s right, Volvo commissioned Orrefors to provide the transparent gearshift in the car company’s latest model: the 2016 Volvo XC90 T6. An all-wheel drive that accommodates up to seven passengers powered by 2.0-liter, 313 hp supercharged and turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, the car is built with safety and class in mind. It has an 85-cu. ft. of cargo space and a crash-hardened frame. The Orrefors gearshift is also sturdy and adds to the elegance of the interior, which includes navi, phone, and Bowers & Wilkins surround sound. The car is jokingly said to be capable of  withstanding Thor’s hammer.
